I am a middle-aged Caucasian male living in the upstate. I was born in the local country and raised between North Carolina and South Carolina. I value my state. However, I do believe that there is a lot of money that goes into the wrong pockets. You can tell the difference immediately when you drive into North Carolina or Georgia, but then when you come to South Carolina things change. I also believe that the infrastructure was not designed to handle the capacity in the amount of people that have influx to our beautiful state. Along the grand strand things are still in progress, but looking better than they are here in the upstate. And I speak for the midlands also. There’s a reason that some people call Columbia the armpit of the south. I believe that funding could go to small business owners and those who are not about politics but rather about working together as a community and working as a team. People like myself who are striving to better than the life for all of our wonderful people in this beautiful state. Concerns with mental healthcare issues are huge factor. If you can help promote and pay better wages not just for mental healthcare professionals, but for those who are coming right out of school working as an associate and who deserve to get paid well by a state so that they can help people get off the streets and back into jobs and on their feet. Unfortunately, we cannot change how much we pay for our college education as healthcare professionals, or even blue collar trades, like being an automotive mechanic, which I have been as well for about 20 years. Making a career transition to work in mental health is not about money at all. It’s about giving back to others who need the most. Because I have been there before. And I have watched loved ones and seen the impact of how unethical or unfair salary wages are taken away from those who work for the state. Our teachers deserve to get paid better and to do while enforcement officers and emergency response personnel. And if we really have to break it down, look at the roads that we have to drive on. I believe as someone who is buy us on putting a religious stamp or political stamp on our agenda, but rather working together. Yes, I am spiritual, but I do not judge other people for their values or dispositions. And yes, I do have political views, but the fear of pointing out my views can be somewhat misconstrued in our beautiful state where we should all be working together.
