SC also runs a fragmented healthcare system across multiple state agencies with limited coordination. In a state where most communities lack access to care, this is not a success story. It’s a policy failure.

In a travel-dependent state, that affects: • getting to work • accessing food • making medical appointments That’s social determinants of health —transportation costs + access to resources barriers. Infrastructure isn’t separate from health care or economic stability.
