Spartanburg-Greenville Train

From "Welcome to The South Carolina Forum!"

Go to the project

South Carolina is the fastest growing state in the country. As such traffic is growing at an unprecedented rate. I’ve noticed the highway between Spartanburg and Greenville is particularly bad. There are frequently crashes causing bumper to bumper traffic, and many people use this highway to commute to work. Adding more highways and lanes is expensive and creates more need for cars, thus making traffic even worse. Adding a train that goes between the two cities would decrease traffic, and also make it easier for tourism between the cities.

Wade Hampton is dreadful! If the speed limit is 45 most people are going 65. I see road rage everyday, tailgating, and running red lights is the norm, not to mention people making left hand turns and expecting the on coming traffic to wait!! I am often in a school zone during the posted zone hours where the speed limit is 25 mph (over by Brushy Creek Elementary and Eastside High School.) I will NOT go over 25 mph but have cars tailgate me, pass me in the median, make obscene gestures, honk, and wave their arms in a fit of rage. I wish the police could be set up every single day during the school zone hours and send a message to these people who have no regard for the safety of our children.
