Public Housing

Above all else, it is a moral wrong that we let people sleep on the street when we have the capacity to provide shelter, but it also director does have to them and to us. If someone is homeless and can't afford basic care, they're more likely to end up in the emergency room, and they're going to require extraordinary expensive treatments that they can't pay for which bogs our whole system down. If our government provided free public housing, this problem would greatly diminish, and we'd also combat high housing costs.
