We moved here a year ago, and were shocked to find out that we had to pay property taxes on our car. We've lived in NY and Florida and this is unheard of. I think its disgraceful. Plus getting a registration is completely ridiculous. In Florida you are sent a renewal registration in the mail. The registration cost is $35. You pay it online and your new sticker is sent. Simple. What goes on here?

Taxes on vehicles should be removed and not replaced with any user or other tax.
I have been in Greenville since 1966 and we r booming. New Property tax revenue by the boat load is coming in and even more being added with addtl homes & other areas now being annexed into our city. Thus a 5 year property tax “re-assement” could have been easily waived for Greenville county and stayed at the lower rate b4 reassessment.

Much more aware of balancing new building projects versus using existing facilities ,or even updating existing facilities. The primary example IS the new county square complex and over a billion tax dollars & more spent & rising. From experience this facility is not more convenient or efficiently run than the old county square location. It is pitiful to watch folks with any degree if disability to have to park and walk from the parking garage to the front door. There is no front door disabled parking due to concrete barriers out front (utterly unneeded!).
The cost of 2 policeman is unnecessary as well. 1 will and can do the job. If 2 policeman r working one should b driving a golf cart over to pick the disabled up & bring them to the front door.
