No more passing kids forward!
From "Welcome to The South Carolina Forum!"
Go to the project
School systems have made it easier to pass students forward, often making it nearly impossible to fail. The goal is to avoid holding kids back, but it creates bigger problems later. Gaps build, expectations drop, and grades lose meaning. We should be teaching for mastery, not just moving students along. Advancement should be tied to understanding, not age. Standards and testing should matter so students get support before moving forward.
