Dilapidated roads and bridges

I don't understand why we are not using lidar attachments on the front of our state vehicles with GPS and the use of AI to determine the condition of all our roads as they are traveled by our state employees. I believe if we were to implement something such as this it would be able to help us create a more real time identification of our decrepit roads and bridges. Not only would it be able to identify and geolocate but possibly give a relative Outlook on the amount of material and time needed for repairs.
