Actively promoting community and civics, civil discourse

Too many people have lost a sense of actual civic engagement; a basic knowledge of civics, why voting is a responsibility as well as a privilege. Having a discussion with someone you disagree with is a challenge when one side starts with an insult or a shibboleth, an unsupported belief about the other.
